Graham is also known for her role as Sarah Braverman on NBC’s Parenthood (2010–2015). In 2013, Graham published her debut novel, Someday, Someday, Maybe, with Ballantine Books. Graham was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. Her mother, Donna Grant, worked as a fashion buyer, while her father, Lawrence Graham, was a lobbyist in the candy industry and served as president of the National Confectioners Association. Raised in her father’s Catholic faith (her maternal grandfather was a Baptist minister), Graham has Irish heritage. When her father worked for the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in Vietnam, the family spent a few years living in Japan, as her mother was also raised there as the daughter of a missionary.

When Graham was five, her parents divorced, and she moved with her father to the Virginia suburbs of Washington, D.C., where he became a congressional staffer. Her mother, who later pursued a music career, moved to London and lived there until her passing in 2005 at age 61. Graham was raised primarily by her father, with whom she shared a close bond.
