Brody was born in San Diego, California, to Valerie Jill (née Siefman), a graphic artist, and Mark Alan Brody, an attorney. He has younger twin brothers, Sean and Matthew, born in 1985. Raised in suburban San Diego, Brody attended Wangenheim Middle School and Scripps Ranch High School, where he struggled with academics.
