Born to Sahib Singh Verma and Sahib Kaur on November 7, 1977, Parvesh Verma hails from a Hindu Jat family. He has one brother and three sisters. He attended Delhi Public School in R.K. Puram and later studied at Kirori Mal College. He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Fore School of Management. Verma’s uncle, Azad Singh, was the mayor of North Delhi Municipal Corporation and contested the 2013 Delhi Assembly election from the BJP.
Political Career
Parvesh Verma was actively involved in the Delhi BJP Election Committee during the 2013 Assembly elections. Although he aspired to contest the 2009 general elections for the West Delhi constituency, he was denied a ticket, with the BJP instead nominating Jagdish Mukhi. This decision was met with strong opposition, including a mahapanchayat in Dwarka that condemned the denial of the ticket to Verma. In the 2013 Delhi Legislative Assembly election, Verma was announced as the BJP’s candidate for Mehrauli. Despite facing opposition from other BJP leaders, including Sarita Chaudhary and Sher Singh Dagar, Verma secured a victory, defeating Narinder Singh Sejwal of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) by 4,564 votes.
